Check out the Thght Process Q & A below
UTW-Who are you?
Chirch Chizzle-I go by the name of Church Chizzle. I am a hip hop artist hailing out of Toronto, Canada. I wear the struggles I’ve been through on my face, and find the craziest and most intriguing ways to relay my story. I grew up in downtown Toronto, and could have been considered a part of the stereotype of young, black, inner city males. Behind all that, I was kept away from my breaking point, by the spiritual beliefs my parents were constantly sharing with me. After being stabbed 12 times, I decided it was time for a change, and began to take my music much more seriously. The rest is history.
UTW-What is your passion?
Church Chizzle-I would love to say my passion is rapping, but it’s not. It’s really just the music, in general. Rapping is just the “musical” thing I do very well. My passion is music. I’m in love with it. Flows, melodies, harmonies, rhyme schemes, the whole sha-bang. It’s probably the only thing I miss when I don’t have it or not doing it. I go to sleep to music, wake up to music, hear music in my head when there’s no music playing, and deepest of all, I have music in my blood and in my heart.
UTW-What’s your biggest accomplishment to date?
Church Chizzle-Geez, where should I start? I’ve only been in the game for a year and a half, releasing my first project in the summer of 2010. But, during 2011, I was blessed to have been retired a champion on “Much Music’s Rapcity Hash tag Freestyle Competition, after winning 5 battles. Also, within 2011, I’ve graced the stage at some of the most prestigious events in Toronto, such as “NXNE ’11, STOMP ’11, Youth Day ’11, 106 & York ’11, and the Manifesto Festival ’11. Another accomplishment I wouldn’t want to diminish is my first video my team and I released. “I’m Comin’ “, serving as a single for my first mixtape, currently sits at 75, 000 views on YouTube, with 20, 000 of those views coming in the first month.
UTW-Perseverance is key in proving to yourself AND any detractors out there. We tell em’ “You thought wrong” what else would you like to say to any doubters right now?
Chirch Chizzle-“I know what I’m worth. If you don’t know, it’s your loss.” – Church Chizzle
The way I see it, as fan of the music first, believe me when I say my music, my path, my brand, have been well thought through. I’m just giving you an opportunity to join me, as I continue to enlarge the mass of people my story inspires.
UTW-Thanks for everything, where can people find your work and get in contact with you?
